Consumer protection: What this chapter covers

This chapter explains:

  • the automatic guarantees you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 if you buy goods or services from a shop or other business
  • the rules in the Fair Trading Act 1986 against various kinds of misleading or unfair trading – including misleading or deceptive conduct, making false or misleading claims, and various specific unfair trading practices
