Coming off a benefit
Overview
What assistance can I get when I come off a benefit?
Many of the forms of income support provided by Work and Income are available to people who are not on a main benefit such as Jobseeker Support. These include:
- the Accommodation Supplement, Disability Allowance, and childcare assistance including the Childcare Subsidy, the Early Learning Payment, and the OSCAR subsidy (for the Accommodation Supplement, see “Other benefits and allowances”; for the Disability Allowance, see “You’ve got a serious illness, injury or disability”, and for childcare assistance see “You have younger children (under 14)”
- Recoverable Assistance Payment Grants, Temporary Additional Support, and Special Needs Grants (see “Other benefits and allowances”)
- Family Tax Credits (see “The Working for Families tax credit package” under “Types of benefits”)
- Assistance to Transition into Employment (formerly “Transition to Work Grant”), New Employment Transition Grant, payments under the Seasonal Work Assistance Programme, and assistance with self-employment (see “Help getting into work or self-employment” under “Types of benefits”).
