Challenging a Legal Aid decision
Overview
If you’ve been refused Legal Aid, or are unhappy about some other Legal Aid decision (like how much you’ll have to repay), there are two ways you can challenge the decision:
- Ask Legal Aid Services to reconsider their decision – You have the right to get Legal Aid Services to do an internal review of the decision (called “reconsidering” the decision)
- Appeal to the Legal Aid Tribunal – If the internal review doesn’t change the decision, you can appeal to a specialist independent Tribunal called the “Legal Aid Tribunal”.
