Landlords can’t discriminate against you
Landlords can’t discriminate against you on the basis of your sex, gender or sexual orientation. They can’t refuse to rent to you, or give you worse terms than other tenants, or evict you.
People selling or leasing property also can’t discriminate against you for those reasons.
Exceptions: When landlords can legally discriminate against you

There are some exceptions where discrimination is legally allowed – here are some of the more common ones:
- if the person is going to be sharing the accommodation with you (like a flatmate who is letting a room)
- if it’s a single-sex hostel.
