Drink/drug driving
Summary of the main drink/drug driving offences
Land Transport Act 1998, ss 11, 11A, 12, 58(1)
You must not drive, or try to drive:
- while you’re over the relevant alcohol limits
- while you’re “impaired” by illegal drugs or prescription medicines
- while under the influence of alcohol or drugs so that you can’t properly control the vehicle, or
- after taking Class A illegal drugs (like heroin, LSD or P).
