Partitions (subdivisions) and other title improvements
Overview
Te Ture Whenua Māori Act provides several ways by which the Māori Land Court can rationalise particular landholdings and provide new or better access to Māori land, in order to facilitate the use and occupation of the land by its owners. These methods include:
- partition orders (subdivisions), and
- amalgamation and aggregation orders.
Those types of orders are explained in this section.
Other ways in which the court can improve title to Māori land include making exchange orders, creating easements, and establishing roadways.
