When can my employer fire me?
Your employer can’t simply “give notice” to dismiss you for no reason, even if your employment agreement says they can do this. They must have a good reason and they must also follow a fair process when dismissing you, otherwise you can bring a personal grievance claim against them for unjustified dismissal (see the chapter “Resolving employment problems”).
