Leaving or losing your job

Retiring

Do I have to retire at a particular age?

No. There’s no set age when people have to retire. Your employer also can’t make you retire just because you’ve reached a particular age. If your employer does make you retire, you may be able to make a personal grievance claim against them (see the chapter “Resolving employment problems”).

What is the process for retiring?

There’s no special legal process for retiring – instead you simply resign from your job in the normal way (see above, “Resignation: Quitting your job”).
